Launched in October 2017, the Oppo f5 “selfie expert” phone with a 6-inch touchscreen display is giving a tough fight to its immediate competitors such as Honor 9i, One Plus and  Vivo v7 plus. So far, users are sharing mixed reaction. Some are highly impressed with its improved software and processor support along with the powerful front camera while some are still arguing about the cost of the phone comparing to the features it has.

It’s a common picture whenever you click on the websites to check out the reviews of smartphones. Fact is different users, different mindset, and expectations. No product can ever make everyone content with whatever it is offering. Being the buyer, you should check the features first before purchasing the smartphone built by the China-based OPPO Electronics Corp. In India the cost of the phone is Rs. 18,299.

Let’s have a quick look at the features of Oppo f5—

CPU

The Oppo f5 is launched with the newly introduced octa-core MediaTek MT6763T processor with 4GB RAM. The processor has eight ARM Cortex A53 cores among which four are running at 2.3GHz and the rest other four are running at 1.65GHz. The improved Mali-G71 MP2 GPU image processor is also doing a great job.

Software

Oppo f5 runs Android 7.1 and a non-removable 3200mAh battery similar to Vivo V7 Plus.

Storage

The internal storage of the phone is 32 GB while with the micro SD card, it can be extended up to 256 GB. Another version of Black and Red phones of 64 GB RAM as well as storage will be launched in December per reviews.

SIM Slot

You may not be impressed by the single SIM provision for 4G use. Things can become more annoying when the phone reboots with the swapping of SIMs.

Camera

The 16-MP rare camera has a nice flash so as the 20-MP front camera. As Oppo’s F series is mostly focusing on catering to improved front cameras for the selfie lovers, the extended zooming option will ensure impressive snapshots as well as videos.

Additional features

Oppo has given a loudspeaker to users. At the bottom, the micro-USP port is placed along with the 3.5mm headphone socket. Oppo wants this phone to be navigated completely by using the touch screen. That’s why you will find no button the front.

2017 has been the year of elongated smartphones and the Oppo f5 has matched the expectations for being light and slim with bezel corners. The phone weighs 152 grams with a vibrant display. If your budget is around Rs 20000, then Oppo f5 is not going to disappoint you especially, if you’re a selfie crazy person. This is not going to be an imbecile investment at all.
